Gabor's “complex signal” revisited: Complexifying frames and bases

چکیده

Abstract In 1946, Dennis Gabor introduced the analytic signal for real‐valued signals f . Here, H is Hilbert transform. This complexification of functions allows an analysis their amplitude and phase information has ever since given well‐interpretable insight into properties over time. The idea been reconsidered with regard to many aspects: examples are dual tree complex wavelet transform, or via Riesz transform monogenic signal, that is, a multi‐dimensional version which in combination multi‐resolution approaches leads wavelets, others. this context, we ask two questions: Which pairs real orthonormal bases (ONBs), bases, frames Parseval can be “rebricked” complex‐valued ones ? And operators A allow rebricking ansatz short note, give answers these questions characterization linear suitable while maintaining structure original valued family. Surprisingly, not among them.

Bases and Frames for Signal Representations

The most simple (and useful) linear expansions for Hilbert spaces are the ones that are based on orthonormal bases. Recall that a set of vectors {xα} in an inner product space (IPS) X is said to be orthogonal if xα ⊥ xβ whenever α 6= β. In addition, if each vector in the set is normalized to have unit norm then the set is said to be orthonormal. Orthonormal sets have many nice properties that m...

G-Frames, g-orthonormal bases and g-Riesz bases

G-Frames in Hilbert spaces are a redundant set of operators which yield a representation for each vector in the space. In this paper we investigate the connection between g-frames, g-orthonormal bases and g-Riesz bases. We show that a family of bounded operators is a g-Bessel sequences if and only if the Gram matrix associated to its denes a bounded operator.

Tameness and Frames Revisited

We study the problem of extending an abstract independence notion for types of singletons (what Shelah calls a good frame) to longer types. Working in the framework of tame abstract elementary classes, we show that good frames can always be extended to types of independent sequences. As an application, we show that tameness and a good frame imply Shelah’s notion of dimension is well-behaved, co...

1. Background If ever there was a collection of articles that needed no introduction, this is it. Undaunted, I shall fulfill my charge as introducer by describing some of the intellectual background of wavelet theory and relating this background to the articles in this volume and to their expert introductions by Jelena Kovačević, Jean-Pierre Antoine, Hans Feichtinger, Yves Meyer, Guido Weiss, a...
